Movement Meditation: Connection

Movements can be powerful teachers. Our bodies remember and repeat motions associated with specific practices, such as eating, playing an instrument, swinging a bat, pledging allegiance, or meditating. These motions also elicit various emotions. Big movements can evoke a sense of openness, exuberance, questing, or engagement. Smaller movements may stir up feelings of intimacy, comfort, calm, or tentative seeking.

Invite children to meditate on the spiritual theme of ‘connection’ with this movement meditation video, or watch the video yourself to learn the movements and then use the script (see Related Resources) to guide children in the practice. There’s also a seated version of the meditation provided below for those who would find that format more accessible.
